چکیده

Recently, there has been a paradigm shift in stereo matching with learning-based methods achieving the best results on all popular benchmarks. The success of these methods is due to the availability of training data with ground truth; training learning-based systems on these datasets has allowed them to surpass the accuracy of conventional approaches based on heuristics and assumptions. Many of these assumptions, however, had been validated extensively and hold for the majority of possible inputs. In this paper, we generate a matching volume leveraging both data with ground truth and conventional wisdom. We accomplish this by coalescing diverse evidence from a bidirectional matching process via random forest classifiers. We show that the resulting matching volume estimation method achieves similar accuracy to purely data-driven alternatives on benchmarks and that it generalizes to unseen data much better. In fact, the results we submitted to the KITTI and ETH3D benchmarks were generated using a classifier trained on the Middlebury 2014 dataset.

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...

Hierarchical Disparity Estimation with Programmable 3D Hardware

This work presents an implementation of a hierarchical disparity estimation algorithm entirely executed on programmable 3D graphics hardware. In contrast to previous hardware based implementations of computational stereo algorithms, our method calculates disparities either for rectified stereo images or uncalibrated pairs of stereo images without known epipolar geometry. We exploit features of ...

Fast Algorithms for Stereo Matching and Motion Estimation

This paper presents fast algorithms for similarity measure, stereo matching, panoramic stereo matching, and image motion estimation. The disparity map for the stereo images is found in the 3D correlation coefficient volume by obtaining the global 3D maximumsurface by using our two-stage dynamic programming (TSDP) technique. Fast panoramic stereo matching is carried out using a cylindrical maxim...

Hyperspectral Light Field Stereo Matching

In this paper, we describe how scene depth can be extracted using a hyperspectral light field capture (H-LF) system. Our H-LF system consists of a 5× 6 array of cameras, with each camera sampling a different narrow band in the visible spectrum. There are two parts to extracting scene depth. The first part is our novel cross-spectral pairwise matching technique, which involves a new spectral-inv...

Fast disparity estimation algorithm for mesh-based stereo image/video compression with two-stage hybrid approach

Disparity estimation is a very important operation in stereo image and video compression. However, existing disparity estimation algorithms require too large computation power. In this paper, we propose a fast disparity estimation algorithm for mesh-based stereo image and video compression with two-stage hybrid approach, which is names as Two Stage Iterative Block and Octagonal Matching algorit...
